Louisiana received a rare occurrence on Monday, February 15, 2021, when snow began to fall in bayou country, making for a magical wintry display. On that day, at about 3:30 in the morning, there was a light dusting of ice on the roads of Lafayette. In another hour, snow began to follow a bit faster.
At that time in 2021, areas in Louisiana experienced a mixture of sleet, ice, and snow, with some parishes above I-10 getting a bit more snow. South of I-10, there was maybe an inch of accumulation that day and that was exciting to everyone in this area.
