Lafayette Water Distribution Helps Families

SCOTT, La. ( KLFY ) – Many families were able to get water they needed for their families as Friday at 7:30 am until 5:00 pm first in front of city hall then after noon in front of the fire station city leaders offer water to residents of Scott and those in the area of Lafayette Parish. With a 6,000 gallon tanker truck people could have used buckets, containers or five gallon jugs to fill up water to use to wash their hands, brush their teeth and cook.

“Obviously, the water pressure from the LUS system had dropped dramatically, which led to a boil advisory,” said the mayor. “Well, fortunately, where we are in partnership, obviously with LCG and our local OHSEP office and the GOHSEP office at the state level and so those guys have resources that, you know, these local stores don’t have. So those are the opportunities that we have to be able to get cases and pallets of water, which you see here at our site, which you see here in Youngsville, so that we can distribute that accordingly throughout until those grocery stores can get back to a point where they’re able to replenish their shelving.”

Each family was given one case of bottled water per family. Leslie Wells, who is a Duson resident, stopped by to get water for his family of four. He along with his stepson and grandson filled their jugs with potable water…
