Louisiana State Police captain arrested for DUI after crash involving BRPD unit

BATON ROUGE — A Louisiana State Police captain has been arrested, after allegedly driving her unmarked unit while under the influence.

Captain Belinda Murphy, 53, is accused of running a red light around 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of Harding Blvd. and Plank Rd. on Feb. 25, and triggering a three-vehicle crash. Murphy is accused of crashing into a marked Baton Rouge Police officer’s car. That impact forced the officer to hit a Prius. The officer, Murphy, and the driver of the other vehicle were all taken to the hospital.
