The Lafayette area is under a tornado watch as severe weather moves across Louisiana on Mardi Gras, bringing thunderstorms, damaging winds and the possibility for tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.
A line of storms moving east reached the Acadiana area around 1 p.m. Isolated wind gusts of up to 80 mph is possible, according to the NWS.
