Iberia Parish said yes to the three tax propositions on the ballot Saturday night that will go toward local fire departments and the Iberia Parish Library.
A bid from the Iberia Parish Library System to renew its 4.50 mills property tax and main source of revenue just barely passed by 88 votes when the polls closed. The final tally showed 4,480 voters showing up in the affirmative and 4,392 who voted against the measure.
The proposition guarantees the library system an estimated revenue of $2.7 million annually, which allows the system to maintain its various libraries throughout Iberia Parish and the programs put on throughout the year…
