LAFAYETTE, La. ( KLFY ) — Patients in the newest wing of the Telemetry Care Unit at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center are treated for pneumonia, flu, appendicitis, gall bladder removal and more.
Elisabeth Arnold, VP of Strategy and Marketing, says the 6th floor expansion fills an ever-growing need. Hospital adminstrators thought they wouldn’t need to expand this part of the hospital until 2030.
“We are seeing a continued increase of patients that need to be admitted for care,” Arnold said. “And when we do that, we sometimes have to have them wait in a flex unit downstairs in the emergency room. Sometimes they’re waiting for hours for a bed to come available. So this will allow us 12 more beds to work with to make sure that we can have patients taken care of upstairs once they’re admitted.”…
