LPSS Superintendent proposes new teacher salary and incentive package

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) –Superintendent Francis Touchet jr. is planning to present a new proposal regarding teacher salaries and incentive pay package at the next The Lafayette Parish School Board (LPSS) meeting on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Superintendent Touchet will introduce a proposed teacher salary and incentive package to the Board under the “Informational Item 2.2: Teacher Salary & Incentive Pay Proposal” agenda item. This two-pronged plan will include: raising starting teacher salary to$50,000 per year, increasing compensation across the certified educator salary schedule and introducing incentive pay for education staff who will take on responsibilities beyond their regular duties and whose work results in improved student achievement.

Touchet highlighted that these two notable items will reflect his ongoing commitment to supporting education and improving student outcomes.
