Fugitive from Avoyelles Parish caught after 2-month chase

ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. ( WNTZ ) — A wanted fugitive from Avoyelles Parish was captured Thursday afternoon in St. Martin Parish following a multi-agency operation, according to the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Aleric Daigrepont, 23, of Moreauville, had been evading law enforcement since Jan. 31, 2025, after failing to turn himself in following a conviction in the 12th Judicial District Court. He was convicted of possession of or dealing in firearms with obliterated serial numbers and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Earlier Thursday, the Avoyelles Parish District Attorney’s Office requested assistance from the APSO Crime Suppression Team in locating Daigrepont. Using investigative techniques, agents developed a lead on his location and coordinated with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 3 p.m., Daigrepont was taken into custody in St. Martin Parish with support from APSO agents. He was booked into the St. Martin Parish Detention Center before being transferred to the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office Detention Center 1…
