BAKER — William “Bill” Simon, longtime business owner and founder of Simple Simon Tires, located on Airline Highway in Baton Rouge, was laid to rest earlier this month.
An accident on March 28th around 5:30 a.m. killed Simon. East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies and Central PD responded to Gurney Rd. near Centerra Court for a man hit by a vehicle while checking his mail. The victim, now identified as Simon, died at the scene.
Simon’s neighbor, and Chief of Staff for Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards, Lon Vicknair, says the tragedy could have been avoided. He says he has sounded the alarm previously about the dangerous locations of their mailboxes along Gurney Rd. in Baker…
