Opelousas Councilwoman demands answers after imbalance of police presence at North City Park compared to South City Park

ST. LANDRY PARISH, LA ( KLFY ) — Opelousas District B Councilwoman Delita Rubin Broussard is demanding answers after she says over policing at North City Park caused confusion and fear for residents on easter Sunday.

“They had police officers parked in the front, the back, the side, everywhere that you can think of. They actually had about 30 police officers out here,” she said.

For the past several years, North City Park has been closed on Easter Sunday in reference to issues with crime. Broussard says she was never told about the park being open this year and was shocked to get multiple calls about something going on at the park with the number of police who were present…
