Pierre Part man arrested for firearm, vessel violations in St. Martin Parish

ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. ( KLFY ) — A Pierre Part man was arrested by Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries agents for alleged firearm violations and operating a vessel while impaired in St. Martin Parish on April 16, authorities said.

Dwayne Hebert, 47, of Pierre Part was arrested and charged with operating and driving a vessel while impaired, illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, failing to possess the required amount of personal floatation device and failing to wear a cutoff lanyard, authorities said.

Agents said during patrol on East Grande Lake they observed Hebert allegedly operating a hand tiller steered outboard vessel. Agents stopped the vessel for a boating safety inspection and allegedly found that Hebert did not possess any personal flotation devices, failed to wear his cutoff lanyard and possessed a .380 pistol, authorities During the inspection, agents said they determined that Hebert was impaired and was a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
