Louisiana Quarterback Malachi Ziegler Has Impressive Throwing Session In Front Of Notre Dame

Notre Dame has yet to offer a quarterback in the 2027 class, but the Irish staff has been on the road the last week trying to figure out which of the talented players in that class are the best fits. One player the staff recently visited is Benton (La.) High School standout Malachi Zeigler . Notre Dame quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli was down south to watch the talented passer throw in a recent workout.

“It was a great session considering the weather,” Ziegler told Irish Breakdown. “We’ve been getting a lot of bad weather lately, but it wasn’t enough to become a big issue. It was an overall great day. We got a chance to talk and just catch up. I’m really excited about the relationship I have with [Gino Guidugli]. It’s straight forward, but chill all at the same time.”

Ziegler saw himself a great fit for the Fighting Irish offense as he viewed practice during his visit. He was familiar with a lot of the plays and concepts and that gave him a baseline of expectation for the session. The Benton star launched a total of 128 passes during the throwing session to his own teammates, comprising of eight route combinations to both sides of the field.
