St. Landry Parish issues no wake zone on waterways

OPELOUSAS, La. ( KLFY ) — Due to recent heavy rainfall impacting St. Landry Parish, no-wake restrictions have been implemented on all parish lakes and waterways until further notice.

The executive order, issued by Parish President Jessie Bellard, aims to mitigate potential erosion along shores and adjacent roads and safeguard residences and camps situated near the waterways from potential flooding. Additionally, the Parish’s bayous will be closed to recreational boating, with all boat launches also closed until the high water levels recede.
