LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- People of all ages gathered for the annual Southwest Louisiana Music Festival and Stone Soul Picnic in Heymann Park.
The celebration featured live music, food, and local vendors, as the community honored June 19th, the day when enslaved people were declared free in the United States. Jacey Bennett, the Miss Teen Juneteenth, shared that witnessing others celebrate the holiday together is a signicant and powerful step forward.
