CADE, La. (KLFY)-The landfill, owned by Greenpoint Incorporated, was approved for an expansion by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality. In addition, it has drawn criticism for some residents living near it.
The nearby dump site is located on Old Spanish Highway in Cade. Residents, like David Pugh, say they were hoping for a different outcome on the landfill expansion, but says he is disappointed in the decision officials with DEQ made.
“So often it stinks,” said Pugh. “It has exposed garbage, exposed cover, lack of cover, all these things, and they just keep giving him everything he wants, so we’re not surprised, very disappointed, but not surprised.”…
