Storms develop Saturday afternoon to bring heat relief

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -Summer heat and humidity continues around Acadiana Saturday with scattered storms developing in the afternoon. Highs reach the lower 90s with a feels-like temperature around 100 to 105 degrees. If you hear thunder, make sure you head indoors and let the storms pass. Lightning can strike up to 20 miles away from the nearest thunderstorm!

Overnight, temperatures drop into the 70s with high humidity. Sunday starts will quiet weather early, but storms develop earlier in the day as tropical moisture surges from the Gulf. This will lead to widespread rain through the afternoon with heavy rainfall possible. Highs will be closer to 90 degrees with the extra storm and cloud coverage.
