(KMDL-FM) When you think of quiet and tranquil places in Louisiana, if you are in the know, you might think of Lake Martin in St Martin Parish. The lake is a favorite spot for kayakers, fishermen, and nature lovers. You might be treated to a very unique Louisiana sight, an alligator in the wild if you take a swamp tour there.
Lake Martin in Louisiana is not the place that comes to mind when you think of massive explosions, especially massive fireworks explosions, but many of you may have seen stories suggesting there was just such an incident last night as the nation celebrated the July 4th Holiday.

So many of you have reached out to us, and we felt the need to offer clarity that “the Lake Martin ” that was the scene of a massive fireworks explosion on July 4th was not in Louisiana. The Lake Martin incident actually took place in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.
Regardless of where the incident happened, it is still a tragic example of what can happen when things go wrong with fireworks. Preliminary reports from the scene last night suggest there were multiple injuries. There were reports that medical helicopters were called to the scene as well.
