LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — A wanted fugitive was arrested after being chased into the bathroom of a Lafayette restaurant Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Gabriel Hunter, 36, of Lafayette, is charged with resisting an officer and criminal property damage, in addition to previous charges of domestic abuse battery and hit and run.
Lafayette Police responded just after 2 p.m. Thursday to a report of Hunter, who had active warrants for domestic abuse battery and hit and run, reportedly seen running into a restaurant in the 400 block of Jefferson Street and locking himself in the rear restroom.Responding officers found they could not access the restroom where Hunter was last seen by witnesses, and Hunter refused officers’ commands to exit, officials said.
