LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — The Lafayette Parish School System has received national recognition for its school safety plan. LPSS School Resource Officers are currently attending the National Association of School Resource Officers conference taking place in Dallas.
Communications Director Tracy Wirtz says last year, the school system learned LPSS is one of the few school districts in the country with a trained law enforcement officer on every single school campus. They say this safety coverage sets LPSS apart from other school districts.
“Which just speaks to the superintendent’s commitment to safety, making sure that when parents drop their children off at school they know that everything that can be done has been done to keep their students safe. I think that comes with a large piece of mind for those parents,” Wirtz said…
