Carencro man found guilty of murder in 7-year-old’s death from fentanyl

A Lafayette Parish jury found a man guilty of murder after a 7-year-old girl died from fentanyl. District Attorney Don Landry said Daniel Boudreaux Jr., 51, was convicted of second-degree murder, second-degree cruelty to a juvenile, and possession with intent to distribute. The verdict was returned on Monday, July 14. Boudreaux was initially charged with negligent homicide after emergency services discovered the child unresponsive in Carencro on January 10, 2023. The charges were later upgraded to second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to a juvenile when a grand jury convened in October 2023.
