St. Martinville man sentenced to 25 years for third-degree rape

ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (KLFY) — A man from St. Martinville was sentenced to 25 years for third-degree rape.

According to authorities Travis Alexander, 36, of St. Martinville, previously pled guilty to third-degree rape on April 29. A sentencing hearing was set before Judge Roger Hamilton, Jr. on July 14.

Officials said in this case, a juvenile victim reported that Alexander raped her. She was examinedby a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. DNA testing from a sexual assault kit tested positive for Alexander’s DNA. Additionally, Alexander made inculpatory statements in text messages recovered by law enforcement…
