Heavy Rain and Flood Threat into Saturday

A tropical disturbance over the northern Gulf is bringing heavy rain and a significant flood threat to southwest Louisiana, especially from Thursday through Saturday.

While the chance of the system developing into a named storm is low, the heavy rainfall potential remains our primary concern. Flood Watches are in effect across much of our region into Saturday evening.

Rainfall totals of 2 to 6 inches are expected, with localized amounts up to 10 inches possible. The heaviest rain and greatest flood risk are expected today. There is a Level 3 of 4 risk of excessive rainfall and flooding over parts of our area today, including Lafayette.
