A massive indoor sports complex is moving forward near Cajun Field. See renderings.

Lafayette tourism officials are moving forward on construction of a 150,000-square-foot indoor sports complex that they say would draw thousands of visitors to the area.

The Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission voted on Wednesday to proceed with talks with officials with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to acquire land along Cajundome Boulevard to build the complex.

It’s a new location for the complex, which in 2023 was announced for Beaullieu Park and Comeaux Recreation Center, but LCVC President and CEO Ben Berthelot said that the city may be able to see a new indoor sports facility become a reality over the next few years…
