Ville Platte man, prison worker from Opelousas arrested in alleged plot to smuggle drugs into jail

VILLE PLATTE, La. (NEWS 15) — Narcotic agents arrested two people, including one who works at a Louisiana prison, after uncovering a plan they were allegedly trying to smuggle illegal drugs into a Louisiana correctional facility.

Rodrick Ben, 35, of Ville Platte, is accused of conspiring to distribute narcotics at the Allen Parish Correctional Facility in exchange for $5,000. He confessed to possessing and intending to sell the drugs, according to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Paula Patterson, 36, of Opelousas, was detained while deputies were searching Ben’s apartment. Patterson is employed at GEO Prisons in Pine Prairie…
