CHURCHPOINT, La. (KLFY) — A SLEMCO lineman and neighbor saved a couple from a house fire caused by lightning last Thursday, SLEMCO said.
Last Thursday afternoon, lightning struck the chimney belonging to the home of husband and wife, Mary and Ron Oakley. Despite checking their attic twice, the couple were not aware of the fire ignited in their home.
Around this time, Matt Reed, a SLEMCO lineman from Church Point, and Stephanie Stevens of Bristol were both heading home down Higginbotham Highway when they noticed the fire and smoke spreading throughout the roof…
