Second Harvest Food Bank announces layoffs in wake of funding cuts

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Second Harvest Food Bank is laying off people due to the loss of funding from the federal government, it announced today.

In a statement, the organization said it is losing $9.4 million in federal money this year alone.

“Like many food banks nationwide, we’re facing rising costs and a sharp drop in federal support,” the statement said. “In response, we’ve had to reevaluate how we serve our entire 23-parish service area.”
