Louisiana Man Dies After Snorkeling Incident In Florida Keys

Authorities do not suspect foul play in the incident.

A Louisiana man was pronounced dead Tuesday afternoon after losing consciousness while snorkeling off the coast of Big Pine Key.

Richard Sudduth, 67, of Lafayette, Louisiana, was found unconscious in approximately 10 feet of water on a reef. Witnesses quickly brought him to shore at Bahia Honda State Park, where emergency medical services were waiting.

Sudduth was then transported to Fishermen’s Hospital in Marathon. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead at approximately 1:38 p.m…
