City Council Chairman Kenneth Boudreaux proposed cutting funds to renovate Lafayette’s City-Parish Hall during Thursday’s budget hearing and called for more public input on the $17 million project, which has drawn wide criticism for its cost and scope.
Boudreaux’s budget amendment removes $5.5 million in bond funds allocated in the upcoming fiscal year, effectively zeroing out the project. All of the money for any renovations would come from city revenues.
