St. Landry Parish Jail worker accused of letting inmates, even murder suspect, use her cellphone

A St. Landry Parish Jail employee is now locked up inside the facility where she used to work. Toi Lazard, 32, of Opelousas, is charged with malfeasance in office and contraband taken to and from penal institutions. Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said she was arrested following an investigation into inappropriate conduct. He explained that Lazard, who supervised the jail kitchen, allegedly brought her cellphone into the facility, allowing inmates to use it for calls, texts, and video chats.
