More heat this week with better rain chances by Tuesday

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Summer muggy air will settle in tonight as temperatures drop into the 70s under mostly clear skies. Any rain will come to an end. Monday begins with coastal rain and humid conditions. Temperatures warm fast, reaching 90 by lunchtime and the low and mid 90s during the afternoon hours. Pop-up showers and storms will bring some relief to the area.

There’s one main area to monitor in the tropics – a tropical wave that has just exited the African coast has a high chance of development and could turn into a tropical depression later tonight or Monday.
