Parish approves entering lease for NE Library at Holy Rosary

After contentious debate and public comment, the Lafayette Parish Council approved Lafayette Consolidated Government entering into a lease agreement for the North East Library on land at the Holy Rosary Institute.

The 4-1 vote was one of the final steps in settling on a location and timeline for the library, a process that has been ongoing since 2018. Now, final negotiations between the parish and The Society of the Holy Family, the nonprofit that owns the facility, can move forward.

“I want to see it built,” says Councilman Donald Richard, who voted to approve entering the lease. “The people of this community deserve a shot.”…
