LEDA offers aid for SafeSource Direct workers in finding new jobs

BROUSSARD, La. (KLFY) — Broussard-based PPE manufacturing operations, SafeSource Direct, announced their immediate suspension of operations that left 541employees across Lafayette and St. Martin parishes without jobs.

Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA) CEO, Mandi Mitchell, said they have teamed up with St. Martin Parish Economic Development Authority, the City of Broussard, and the Louisiana Workforce Commission to help displaced employees find other opportunities in the region.

“While we are saddened to have received this news from SafeSource executives, we are encouraged by the response from other local employers who have begun to express interest in offering opportunities to the talented individuals who will be affected.” Mitchell said. “This situation reinforces the importance of supporting domestic manufacturing capabilities, particularly in critical sectors like healthcare supplies.”…
