Abbeville’s oldest restaurant to receive National Trust grant for historic preservation

Dupuy’s Seafood and Steak serves up its famous oysters, corn and crab bisque, jumbo lump crab cakes and other south Louisiana delicacies in a building that has been standing in Abbeville’s historic downtown for over 150 years.

Today, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express announced that the restaurant will receive a $50,000 grant as part of the National Trust’s “Backing Historic Small Restaurants” program.

Since 2021, the program has supported small and independently-owned restaurants across the country that contribute to the history and identity of the surrounding neighborhood, tell a story about America’s culinary heritage, has a compelling historical narrative, or has been disproportionately impacted by economic challenges or disasters…
