MYETTE POINT – Two Acadiana bass anglers relied on their respective confidence baits, a Z-Man Chatterbait JackHammer for young Travis Meche Jr. and a Super Bait Buzz Bait for veteran Jacob Shoopman, to win a closely contested Louisiana Bass Cats tournament Aug. 24 in the Atchafalaya Basin.
After a hot day of fishing and culling beaucoup times in Shoopman’s Ranger RT198 powered by a 150-h.p. Mercury ProXS, the team carried a five-bass limit to the digital scale at Myette Point Landing. Their limit weighed an unbeatable 11.38 pounds for a $450 payday.
The bladed jig accounted for their biggest bass, a 2.81-pounder, plus some solid 2s while the buzz bait triggered strikes from their second- and third-biggest bass.
