WEST MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — The man accused of killing Sheryl Turner, a New Iberia woman whose body was decapitated, dismembered and dumped in the Ouachita River, will not stand trial, at least not yet.
Ouachita Parish authorities have deemed that Anthony Holland, Jr., of West Monroe, lacks the mental capacity to understand the proceedings against him. Holland was committed to the custody of the Department of Health and Hospitals Aug. 21.
The partial remains of Turner were found Jan. 24, 2024 in the Ouachita River in Catahoula Parish by a local boater. The autopsy results indicated that the remains found were a human torso with the extremities and head removed in a deliberate and very precise manner…
