As students return to school, most are heading into brick-and-mortar buildings. But more than 400 students across south Louisiana are logging on to the computers for a completely virtual experience.
The Lafayette Connections Academy, operating as a pod of Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academies, allows fourth- through 12th-grade students to attend an online school that’s free and follows the academic standards set by the state department of education.
“Families want more accountability and they want more flexibility. We offer that,” said Tara Carr, the Lafayette Connections Academy school leader. “It’s a great method and way of learning while staying the public education system.”…
