Lafayette ADA knew FBI was watching, according to testimony in federal kickback trial

Lafayette Assistant District Attorney Gary Haynes allegedly knew in January and February of 2022 when he picked up two $10,000 checks from a vendor with the DA’s office that the FBI was investigating.

He never cashed or deposited the checks, an FBI agent leading the investigation said Wednesday during cross-examination in the federal bribery trial against Haynes.
