The Lafayette Parish School Board will vote at its Thursday meeting on whether to build a new school in north Lafayette.
The agenda item, proposed by members Amy Trahan and Josh Edmond who represent the north side, asks the board to approve the construction of a new kindergarten through eighth-grade facility on the current site of J.W. Faulk Elementary.
If approved, the school would merge J.W. Faulk Elementary, Dr. Raphael Baranco Elementary and Paul Breaux Middle schools after its completion. Baranco was built in 1981, and Faulk and Paul Breaux were built in 1958…
