Martial Billeaud Elementary School in Broussard gets new track

BROUSSARD, La. (NEWS 15) — Martial Billeaud Elementary School in Broussard celebrated a new addition to its campus, a $120,000 track. The track welcomed its first walkers and runners, providing a secure space for students to enjoy physical activity.

Principal Christy Hayes emphasized the importance of physical education for students.

“PE is so important for our kids. When they get outside and they wanna run, but we wanna make sure that they’re safe. So, they’re running under our pavilions, which is nice, but now, we can actually track them. It’s an eighth of a mile track, so if they go around eight times, it’s their mile that they achieve, and they wanna achieve their goals in PE. If they’re not healthy, they’re not doing what they need to do in the classroom,” she said…
