September is Sepsis Awareness Month, a time to understand more about a condition that affects millions. Sepsis is a critical medical issue that can happen when the body’s response to an infection goes awry. “So, in our bodies, the intention is to cure an infection or to kill the bacteria. But sometimes, in the midst of that battle, we end up overreacting. Essentially, the immune system freaks out, so our kidneys are not getting enough blood. Our heart is working too hard.
