OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) — A traffic stop in Opelousas led to an arrest and the seizure large amounts of drugs and guns, authorities said.
Jared Jarrell Anderson, 36, of Opelousas is charged with the following:
- Possession with intent to distribute marijuana (3 counts)
- Possession with intent to distribute cocaine (2 counts)
- Transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses
- Possession of a firearm in the presence of drugs (24 counts)
- Possession of a machine gun (2 counts)
- Unlawful possession of a suppressed weapon
- Possession of a sawed-off shotgun
- Possession of a firearm with obliterated serial number
- Possession of stolen firearm (4 counts)
- Illegal window tint
- Burnt tail light
St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives were patrolling the area of Pavy Road north of Opelousas when they noticed a 2015 Kia Optima with illegal window tint and a burnt right tail lamp, officials said.

During the resulting traffic stop, the driver was recognized from a previous narcotics arrest as Anderson. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately .25 lbs. of marijuana and approximately 1.25 grams of suspected cocaine, authorities said.
