Lafayette Parish voters renew millage that generates $22M for public schools

Lafayette Parish voters on Saturday renewed a 7.79 mill property tax that provides funding for operations and maintenance for the Lafayette Parish School System.

Sixty-eight percent of those casting ballots Saturday decided to renew the milage that provides about $20 million in revenue for the Lafayette public school system’s general fund.

Turnout for the election was low with only about 7.7% of the parish’s 161,827 registered voters casting ballots…
