Lafayette apartment attic fire damages vacant unit

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that occurred today in Lafayette.

Today, Lafayette firefighters were called to a report of smoke in the area on West Simcoe Street and Evangeline Street around noon.

When firefighters arrived on scene, smoke was coming from a small apartment attached to the dwelling. Emergency crews entered the home and discovered a small fire in the attic above an entrance door that was quickly extinguished…
