The long-anticipated extension of Louisiana Avenue to Gloria Switch Road is now officially open, creating a new direct connection through the north side of Lafayette.
Designed to ease congestion, the $10 million project extends the four-lane Louisiana Avenue past its previous endpoint at Butcher Switch Road, continuing north alongside Moss Street and tying into Gloria Switch Road through a newly constructed roundabout. The project also includes key infrastructure upgrades, such as a box culvert replacing the former bridge structure.
The new extension is expected to reduce traffic congestion and enhance access for nearby neighborhoods and businesses. Its completion also comes at an ideal time, as construction on the Buc-ee’s of Lafayette continues to move forward.
