Louisiana musician behind ‘Sinners’ film brings Irish tunes to Acadiana’s KRVS radio

The music of Ireland and the Celtic world took the country by storm this year with the release of “Sinners,” Ryan Coogler’s supernatural horror film starring Michael B. Jordan and set in the Mississippi Delta in the 1930s.

“Sinners” introduced an ancient Irish vampire to a world of blues and folk spirituals, creating toe-tapping scenes that show the power that music has to call people together. Acadiana musician and Celtic Bayou Festival co-founder Tony Davoren (who hails from Wicklow, Ireland) played a crucial role in the making of the film, working with his wife and daughter — both professional Irish dancers — to ensure that the sounds and traditions of Ireland were presented authentically in the story.
