Halloween 2025 in Lafayette Parish: Trick-or-treat hours, events

Communities across Lafayette Parish are preparing for Halloween 2025 with official trick-or-treat hours, fall festivals, haunted attractions and family-friendly events scheduled throughout the city.

This year, the celebration takes place on Friday, Oct.31, with official trick-or-treat hours set from 6 to 8 p.m. under the guidance of Lafayette Consolidated Government. The two-hour window serves as a focal point for families to gather and safely enjoy the evening.

Safety First: LCG’s Trick-or-Treat Guidelines

Safety is the watchword this year. LCG has outlined several key precautions to ensure a fun and secure Halloween experience for all:

  • Be visible: Carry a flashlight or glow sticks, and add reflective tape to dark costumes.
  • Skip masks: Use face paint or fun hats instead — masks can block vision.
  • Choose safe costumes: Wear flame-resistant outfits and use soft or cardboard props.
  • Stick together: Kids should trick-or-treat in groups with adult supervision.
  • Stay alert: Use sidewalks, walk on the edge of the road, and watch for traffic.
  • Keep it familiar: Visit well-lit homes in familiar neighborhoods.
  • Check candy first: Adults should inspect treats before kids eat them.
  • Only wrapped treats: Give and accept sealed, packaged candy.
  • Drive slowly: Be extra cautious when driving through neighborhoods.
  • Adults, plan ahead: If attending parties, drink responsibly — never drink and drive.

Local Halloween Events & Family-Friendly Fun

Apart from door-to-door trick-or-treating, Lafayette is offering several themed events in the run-up to Halloween. Meanwhile, more adult-oriented celebrations — such as costume parties and pub crawls — are scheduled around the city, giving older residents and visitors plenty of ways to get into the spirit.
