Hensgens’ son, daughter get first deer on back-to-back days

BENTLEY – Heath and Alyson Hensgens’ children continue to take down the first deer of his or her life.

After two special deer hunting trips in mid-October, it’s three down, three to go. Hensgens cleaned two deer, a big-bodied doe and a smaller doe, on back-to-back days with a little help from a couple of the happy youngsters.

Six-year-old Haddon Hensgens, soon to be 7, shot the first doe on Oct. 14, a Tuesday afternoon hunt with his dad and older brother, Eli, 10. They were hunting in the same ground blind Eli killed his first deer, a 4-pointer, at age 8 on family property five minutes from home and bordering the Kisatchie National Forest…
