Third person arrested in connection with Oct. 2 Opelousas shooting

OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) — The Opelousas Police Department has released an update regarding the shooting on Oct. 2, in the 900 block of Wallior Street.

Xavier Orville, 18, who was initially identified as one of the victims of the shooting, has now been arrested. He is the third person arrested in connection with the shooting.

Arrests made in two Opelousas ongoing shooting cases

Officials said they learned Orville left a residence armed with a rifle and fired several shots toward the suspects’ vehicle as it was leaving the area.

During the shooting, one of the rounds fired struck a water valve located on the property of Opelousas Catholic School, investigators said.
