YLAFAYETTE sign celebrates 10 years as a Lafayette landmark

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — The YLAFAYETTE sign in Parc Sans Souci, Lafayette, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this Friday, marking a decade as a beloved community landmark.

Installed in December 2014, the seven-foot-tall concrete sign was funded through a community-driven crowdfunding campaign via Civicside. Over the past ten years, the sign has become a symbol of Acadiana’s creativity and unity, featuring over 107 unique paintings by local artists and community groups.

“The YLAFAYETTE sign began as a creative way for our people to become the ‘Y’ in Lafayette because our people are why Lafayette is such a special place,” said Kate Durio, the sign’s creator and design coordinator…
