Can’t have that deer spaghetti without Aubree’s first-ever deer

Of all the outdoor outings she has enjoyed in her nine years, Aubree Derouen experienced that defining moment never to be forgotten on her first deer hunt with her father.

Nick Derouen of Delcambre, formerly of New Iberia, called it “just a perfect day.” He was talking about the Oct. 30 morning Aubree, a fourth-grade student at Delcambre Elementary School, killed an estimated 140-pound, 10-point buck in St. Mary Parish.

Derouen, 42, took advantage of a tip from some friends to get out in a stand soon after a weather change dropped low temperatures almost daily into the 40s and highs to a more bearable mid to upper 70s…
